Caring For Savannah

A Lifelong Journey Of Excellence

Born in Missouri, Dr. T. Ellis Barnes also spent part of his childhood in London, England. His college years were spent in Montana, where he worked as a paramedic and wildland firefighter while attending the University of Montana. This time spent as a first responder focused his quest to become a surgeon.

For medical school, Dr. Barnes headed back to Europe to study at the University College Dublin, where he trained at the prestigious Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. After his internship through the Royal College of Surgeons, he returned to the states for his surgical residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, and Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He then moved to Savannah, where completed a Fellowship in Mastery of General Surgery with an emphasis on robotic surgery. He has previously served as chairman of robotic surgery for the St. Joseph’s/Candler system and is an Assistant Professor Of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia.

Today, Dr. Barnes stands as a leader in the field of general and robotic surgery, not just because of this training and experience, but due to his compassion for patients and their families. He is proud to be here for Savannah and this entire region. Dr. Barnes understands that becoming a great surgeon is a lifelong journey as he continues to expand his surgical expertise and impact the lives of those who seek his care.
